A Perfect Pair.

I'm not much of a painter, more of sketcher, but Tanner is. And if I'm gonna paint at all, only with him.

Αφροδίτη

This is my concept of beauty. This is an ancient statue of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, of love and beauty. I saw on the internet that someone called this statue "overweight" and "too wide," and I was absolutely horrified as to what society is teaching us. The ancient Greeks, some of the smartest people of their age, fit Aphrodite into this size in their statues and paintings. She was the goddess of BEAUTY for heaven's sake.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, society is teaching us nowadays that we all have to be smaller than this. This Aphrodite is gorgeous. Anyone naturally smaller or bigger than this is gorgeous. I hate that we all feel as if we have to be smaller than we are (and when I say "we all" I mean everyone who feels pressured too, I'm not fitting everyone inside a box) because that's what some people's idea of beauty is.
I feel encouraged when I see this statue because it means that everyone is different and we should be proud that we're not all like this, and we're not all twigs, and we're not all bigger than this, or whichever. I feel encouraged when I see this statue, because it's beauty. I'm determined to someday go to Greece and see this statue of Aphrodite for myself, to see this statue of beauty and feel proud for the women of the world. Heck, why not be proud for the men too?

I'm thinking about the future. In the future, someday, you will see a photo of me and myne Tanner, with our very first baby. Which will be a hairless black sphynx cat named Luna.

Oh my Rowling.

Like the new header? Just finished making it. All pictures taken by and belong to me.
Anyway, I haven't for real posted anything in a while.

I'm happy with this and yet I'm not. I think I'm going to change Harry's neck a bit. Once I get a wooden manikin, I'm going to redo it. I think that'll make a big difference.
Please tell me that you know what this is from. As you all know (or should) Order of the Phoenix is my favorite Harry Potter book. This is the scene when Remus is pulling Harry back, because Bellatrix (grrr) had killed Sirius (my favorite) and Harry was trying to get to the veil because he thought Sirius was still alive, just on the other side. Ahhhh. Kills me every time.

Me, Tanner, and Lauren. On our way to the city to shop!

Hobby Lobby-ness. Tanner looked at paints, and I looked at sketchbooks.

Hobby Lobby has everything!
These are from when we went to Hobby Lobby last Thursday. In the big city. Haa. Hobby Lobby literally has everything! So Lauren found more yarn for our Hogwarts scarves, Tanner got some more paints, and I got a few sketchbooks. Oh how I love Hobby Lobby.
And bad news. I'm sick. Which really sucks. So I'm going to get some ice cream, I think.
I'm also going to a concert tonight. I have mixed feelings about that. The pros, Tanner will be there and I'm bringing the camera so from the balcony I might get good pictures. Cons, there are going to be certain people there (a lot of them, come to think of it) that I don't really get along with/like, and I also don't like closed in loudness either. So. We'll see how this goes.

My Hufflepuff Rant

I wish I had a way of contacting whoever posted this on harrypotterconfessions.tumblr.com .  This website is my new obsession. I visit it once in the morning and once at night. The creators are really good at updating all the time, and not just whenever they feel like it. Which I totally respect. Anyway, I wish I had a way of contacting whoever posted this. Because I completely understand. I mean, I'm not going to name my son Cedric. I---I'm just not. That's a no. But what it means. I hate all this Hufflepuff hate. And not just the Hufflepuff hate, but all the House hate. I don't like most Gryffindors, but I understand what they stood for and such. Slytherins were wrong for being so morally questionable, but they ARE determined people who get stuff done. Ravenclaw's can be extremely know-it-all and bossy, but they're also extremely witty, which tends to be funny and everyone needs humor. But I really don't get the Hufflepuff hate. Everyone must think just because they're loyal and hard working that must mean they're all rainbows and pink fluff. No. Zacharias Smith anyone? Yeah. Hufflepuff. Agreed, sometimes they tend to not stick up for themselves. They have flaws too. But look at Tonks, she's so brave and so loyal. And she's an Auror for goodness sake. But most of all, look at Cedric Diggory. He DIED, because he was determined to do Harry right. He was brave. I really liked Cedric Diggory. So seriously, Hufflepuffs for the win.

I legitimately just deleted someone off my facebook because they were bashing Harry Potter on my wall. That's a no go. Also, I'm completely and rationally deathly afraid of spiders now. Let's just say, it could've been Aragog.
